New Clovis girls basketball coach hired
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Clovis native Jeff Reed has been hired as the new coach for the Clovis High School girls basketball team.
The move was confirmed Monday night by CHS Athletic Director Brian Stacy.
“He had a fantastic interview,” Stacy said of Reed, a former boys varsity coach in Clayton. “I was excited to offer him the job, and I’m glad he accepted.”
Stacy hired Reed a year ago for his former position, boys coach for the Clovis High Freshman Campus.
“I officiated for him a few times,” Stacy said. “I liked how he worked with the kids.”
Reed replaces Miles Watters, who retired after seven seasons as Clovis girls coach. Watters went 526-105 in his career and won 12 state titles, including the 30-0 Clovis team that claimed the Class 5A title in 2005.
Attempts to contact Reed Monday night were unsuccessful.
